ISL 2022-23: East Bengal fan dies during Kolkata Derby against ATK Mohun Bagan

Kolkata: A 38-year old East Bengal FC fan dies after facing discomfort in stadium. According to reports, the name of the deceased is Joyshankar Saha, a 38-year-old resident of Kolkata. He was brought to AMRI Hospital in Salt Lake at around 8:30 PM on Saturday after he suffered a myocardial infarction (sudden heart attack). Doctors tried thier best to revive him but could not. Saha expired at around 9:07 PM. His body will be kept at the hospital mortuary till police takes it away for post mortem.

During the first-half of the match, Saha started facing discomfort and kept sweating sitting in stands. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital with the help of Bidhan Nagar Police, south division. Saha was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

According to his friend who was accompanying him during the match said, “We got tickets in the ATK Mohun Bagan stands. While rushing towards the stand, there was a little collision following which we have to run to the stands. After a while he started panting and we called for help”.

East Bengal FC lost to arch rivals ATK Mohun Bagan in Indian Super League 2022-23 match. The mariners won 2-0 with a goal coming from Hugo Boumous and Manvir Singh respectively.
