Dubai: Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during his side’s match against Punjab Kings on Tuesday (September 21).

As far as the fine is concerned, Samson was fined INR 12 lakhs since it was his first offense under the Indian Premier League’s Code of Conduct. In case of a second offense, the captain faces a whopping amount of fine of INR 24 lakhs. Other members of the team are fined 25 percent of their match fees in the second case. If the team is involved in a third offense, then the captain gets banned for one match and gets fined INR 30 lakhs.

“As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum over-rate offenses, Samson was fined Rs 12 lakh,” read an official statement.

However, after this Rajasthan was able to make a comeback and the side registered a thrilling victory. Kartik Tyagi returned with two crucial wickets of Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hooda and he was adjudged as Man of the Match. Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mahipal Lamror also scored 49 and 43 respectively.

“Somewhere we had that fight left. We knew we had some special bowlers. Kept Mustafizur’s overs for the end. Tyagi was confident with his yorkers, especially wide yorkers. Executed them well against the new batters. And we had top fielding plans for every batter, we have planned till the last batter,” Samson said after the end match.

“We were happy with our score, on this wicket that was a good score. We are a better bowling/fielding team too. We could’ve won the game early if there weren’t drops early on,” Samson added.

Rajasthan Royals will next lock horns against Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals on Saturday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
