IPL 2021: Harshal Patel’s hat-trick helps RCB tame Mumbai Indians

Dubai: Royal Challengers Bangalore  crushed Mumbai Indians to register a big win by 54 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Glenn Maxwell was the star  of the for Bangalore scoring 56 runs with the bat and  registered 2/23 rolling his arms over. Harshal Patel struck a hat-trick to deny Mumbai’s hopes to chase down a target of 166.

Apart from skipper Rohit Sharma(43) and Quinton de Kock(24), none of the MI batter registered double figures. The duo gave a steady to Mumbai adding 57 for the opening stand. Rohit was looking good at the crease intending to take the game away but miscued one off Maxwell to find Devdutt Padikkal at mid-on. Mumbai’ innings started to crumble as the  middle order was dismantled by  a disciplined RCB bowling line up. Yuzvendra Chahal(3/11) bowled a superb spell to boost RCB’s chance which were further enhanced when seamer Harahal Patel(4/17), the pick of the bowling unit struck a hattrick in the 17th over. The Gujrat put the icing on the cake in his next over to all-out Mumbai for  111.

Earlier, RCB rode on knocks from Virat Kohli(51) and Glenn Maxwell(56) to reach 165/6 in 20 overs. The former after losing his partner Devdutt Padikkal early in the innings joined hands with Srikar Bharat(32) steadying the ship adding a valuable 68 runs. Skipper Kohli brought up his second consecutive fifty since the resumption of the tournament in UAE but fell to Adam Milne shortly after that. Maxwell added the finishing touch helping Bangalore to post a competitive total.
