India vs Kyrgyz Republic: Sunil Chhetri surpasses Puskas’ record; Sandesh Jhingan scores to India’s 2-0 win

Imphal: Sandesh Jhingan and Sunil Chhetri scored against Kyrgyz Republic to earn the Tri-Nation Friendly trophy with a 2-0 win. India had won their first game of the tournament against Myanmar with a scoreline of 1-0.

India started with sheer dominance, with attacks coming from Mahesh, Sandesh and Chhangte. In the 34th minute of the game, Sandesh Jhingan gave India the lead. A free-kick from Brandon found Sandesh who made no mistake to hit the right bottom corner.

In the 84th minute, Sunil Chhetri scored from a spot kick to double the lead. The Indian talisman became the 5th highest goal scorer in international football. Kyrgyzstan attempted to rebound and mount a few impressive attempts, but they were never a threat to India as they firmly maintained their defensive approach. Channgte and Brandon are in charge of the Indian attack, with a strong defence in the back.

In the 84th minute, Sunil Chettri scored from the penalty spot and doubled the lead to become the 5th highest scorer in international football.

Igor Stimac and India would be delighted to win their first international tournament in Manipur as they prepare for the AFC Asian Cup.
