Manjeri: The first match of Hero Super Cup 2023 Group B between Hyderabad FC and Aizwal FC ended 2-1 with Hyderabad registering the win. Joel Chianese and Joao Victor each scored to give the Indian Super League side a win against the I-League team. Ivan Vergas made a last minute impact for Aizwal FC to make the scoreline 2-1.
A bit of a scare at the end, but Hyderabad make it through with 3 points!

Starting with three foreigners, Hyderabad FC coach Manolo Marquez put a good start to the game as Vanlal Hriatpuia had to give some good saves.
Abdul Rabeeh made a good start set for Borja Herrara. However, being blocked the rebound was well shot inside the net by Joel Chainese. Later in Aaren D’Silva was fouled inside the box for which Hyderabad FC earned a penalty kick. Coming from the bench, Joao Victor, finished in style as Hyderabad cruised to a two-goal lead with over half an hour to play.
The second half starts and Hyderabad have an instant penalty that Joao Victor slots home.

Aizwal FC tried to push hard by creating some decent goal scoring chances. Finally Ivan Vergas managed to beat Anun Kumar. Ivan found the far top corner of the net over 20 yards to score one. However it was too late for the visitors, who finished the game on the losing side.

Joel Chianese was considered the Hero of the Match for an energetic performance. However a solid display from Rabeeh, Halicharan Narzary, Chinglensana Singh, Odei Onaindia, Sahil Tavora and Reagan Singh earned Hyderabad FC three points from the game.
