Bengaluru : New Zealand defeated India by 8 Wickets at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Day 5 of 1st Test . This was their 1st Test win against India in Indian soil since 1988, ending to a 36 years wait.
The Black Caps were chasing 107 runs on Day 5 and started the day losing skipper Tom Latham (0) off the 1st over of Jasprit Bumrah.
Despite Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj giving hard times to the pair of Will Young (48*) & Devon Conway (17) with their swing and pace, they formed a vital 35 runs partnership. Bumrah yet again broke that taking Conway’s wicket.
As soon as Rachin Ravindra (39*) joined in, the nature of Kiwi Batting changed, as, both Young and Ravindra began attacking Indian bowlers and scored quick runs.
New Zealand soon reached the target with the duo notching up 75 runs partnership and recording a famous win.
India and New Zealand will face each other in 2nd Test of the 3 Match Test Series at Pune on October 24.
