Chennai : India defeated England by 2 wickets at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai in 2nd T20I. Tilak Varma’s 72* (55) powered India to thrilling last over win.

Chasing 166 runs, India lost 2 quick wickets of their openers for 19 runs. Where on one hand, Tilak Varma (72*) held one end, India kept losing wickets from other.

After India struggling at 78-5 (9.1), Washington Sundar (26) came to help Tilak, playing vital cameo and 38 runs partnership. However, after his fall, India yet again kept losing wickets.

With Tilak smashing English bowlers and playing sensibly at one end, Ravi Bishnoi (9*) too smacked 2 vital boundaries to bring run chase closer with just 2 wickets to spare.

The equation came to last over, with 4 runs to win and Tilak smashed Jamie Overton in his 2nd delivery thereby clinching historic win at Chennai.

Tilak’s knock of 72* (55) included 4 boundaries and 5 sixes, earned him Man of the Match.

In first innings, Jos Buttler (45) yet again proved to be England’s lone warrior. Although the english middle order disappointed, Brydon Carse (31) played vital cameo to bring their total to 165-9 (20).

Axar Patel and Varun Chakaravarthy picked 2 wickets each for India.

The 2 teams will meet each other on January 28, 2025, for 3rd T20I.
