Kolkata : In a shocking turn of events , the controversial Algerian boxer in Women’s Category, who also won Gold in Paris Olympics 2024, Imane Khelif is allegedly confirmed as male according to a leaked medical report.
Khelif’s participation in Paris Olympics 2024 drew huge controversy all over the world as it was known that the boxer had XY chromosomes and Testosterone level.
More facts like the Algerian was banned by IBA in 2023 from participating in World Championship 2023 final Gold medal Match, also raised widespread reactions among experts and netizens all over the world.
However, the boxer was allowed to fight in the Olympics and secured Gold Medal amidst the controversy.
Leaked Medical Report of Imane Khelif
According an old report, which French journalist Djaffar Ait Aoudia was able to secure, Khelif has internal testicles and XY chromosomes, hinting at a disorder called 5-alpha reductase insufficiency.
Experts from the Kremlin-Bicêtre Hospital in Paris and the Mohamed Lamine Debaghine Hospital in Algiers drafted the report in June 2023. The report describes Khelif’s biological traits, such as the existence of internal testicles and the lack of a uterus. Additionally, an MRI revealed the presence of a micropenis, as reported by Redux.
In response to the gender dispute, Khelif had earlier stated that “she” was born a woman. “I’m a woman like any other woman. I was born as a woman, I live as a woman, and I am qualified.” Khelif claimed that the gender controversy sparked by former US President Donald Trump, author J.K. Rowling, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk had impacted Khelif alot. Khelif named Rowling and Musk in a criminal complaint filed to French authorities over alleged “acts of aggravated cyber harassment”.
Experts and netizens now demand to strip the Algerian’s Gold medal and give it to best deserving Women in the category. The revelations of old medical report have drawn widespread criticisms.
