Mumbai : Mumbai Indians defeated Gujarat Giants by 47 Runs at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, in Eliminator of WPL 2025 & qualified for Final. MI all-rounder Hayley Matthews show of 77 (50) & 3/31 sealed the deal for the season champion.
MI lost Yastika Bhatia (15) on 26 runs in 5th over.
Hayley Matthews (77) & Nat Sciver-Brunt (77) notched up 133 runs partnership and gave momentum to the innings. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (36) played brilliant cameo as MI ended on 213-4 (20).
Gujarat, chasing the huge total of 214 succumbed to pressure. Although Danielle Gibson (34), Phoebe Lichfield (31), Bharti Fulmali (30) played handy knocks, Gujarat were bundled at 166.
Matthews, the purple cap holder yet again picked 3-fer. Amelia Kerr also picked 2 wickets.
All-rounder Matthews was adjourned player of the match for her brilliant show with Bat & Ball.
MI will now face Delhi Capitals in final, a repetition of Season 1 Final where MI won.
