Paris: Giorginio ‘Gini’ Wijnaldum claimed he left Liverpool after feeling that the club didn’t want him playing for them.
“You follow your feeling,” the 30-year-old told L’Equipe. “Several months ago, I had expressed the desire to stay in Liverpool but, without going into details, Liverpool did not give me the feeling of wanting to keep me.”
“In these cases, we have to move forward.”
Liverpool had brought in the Dutch from Newcastle United back in 2016 for a fee of £23m and the midfielder have proved himself to be a very crucial part of Jürgen Klopp’s squad . He had even played a pivotal role in helping the Merseyside win their first Premier League title in 30 year along with the European title before leaving for free this summer.
Wijnaldum had recently expressed his feelings over how he was left with no choice but depart from Anfield unwantedly after unsuccessful negotiations over contract renewal finally being convinced of not being wanted.
Wijnaldum joined French side Paris Saint-Germain for free this summer and had already made five appearance in the league for the team as they stand at the top establishing himself to be a rock in Head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s plans. Gini will also be featuring in Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League opener against Club Brugge.
