England and Scotland Cricket teams to play unitedly as Great Britain in Los Angeles Olympics 2028 : Reports

Kolkata : As per reports, England Cricket Board and Cricket Scotland are in talks to play as one team – Great Britain in Los Angeles Olympics 2028.

Cricket is set to comeback since 1900 in Olympics. ICC recommended 6 teams in the T20 format, and the teams would qualify as per the rankings.

Meanwhile, England and Scotland Cricket boards have decided to play under Great Britain as they do in other sports, for both men’s and women’s Cricket.

“With the Los Angeles Olympics four years away, it’s very early stages, but we’re talking to Team GB and Cricket Scotland about the next steps we need to take,” an ECB spokesperson said.

“Once again Great Britain’s Olympians have captured the national imagination with their exploits in Paris this year, and we look forward to working together to compete when cricket returns to the Olympic stage in 2028″, he added.

Andy Anson, the chief executive of the British Olympic Association, agrees with sending one united team. He said, “We’ve got good experience in golf, in rugby and in women’s football, of how the Four Nations [England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland] can come together and nominate one country to be the main governing body and work with the other countries. So I think cricket will be the same.”

Last time when Cricket was played in 1900, there were only 2 teams – Great Britain and France, with GB winning the Gold Medal.
