New Delhi: India’s 17-member team for the next one-off Test against England national cricket team has been declared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Incidentally, India will play England in the the last Test match of the series, which was postponed last year owing to the Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp. India will also play both a T20I and an ODI series on the same visit. The 5th postponed Test match will begin on Friday, July 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Meanwhile, veteran batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has returned to the Indian team after being omitted ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka at home due to a bad run with the bat for a long time.

Pujara has lately excelled in the County Championship while playing for Sussex, and his success has helped him reclaim his place in the Indian national cricket team.

In addition, Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowler Prasidh Krishna has been included to the Indian Test team for the upcoming England series, but experienced pacer Ishant Sharma has been left out. Wriddhiman Saha, the wicketkeeper-batsman who was dropped from the team before of the Sri Lanka series, is also absent.

Ajinkya Rahane, the former India Test vice-captain, has sustained an injury and will be out for a few months.

Apart from that, there aren’t many revelations in India’s Test squad for the upcoming England tour, with most of the expected players keeping their spots.
