The arch rivals Mohun Bagan have already roped them in the ISL after their merger with ATK FC back in January. So it was important for the sake Indian football that a centurion club like East Bengal should be a part of the ISL. So Mamata Banerjee added, “Mohun Bagan had joined ISL after an arrangement but East Bengal were trying for a very long time to play the ISL amidst the pandemic and that will finally happen now.”

Tarun Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Reliance India stated that, “We will try to get East Bengal into the ISL this year. There are some formalities need to be completed. With EB and MB both in ISL this will be a new beginning in Indian football.”This was a long hard battle for the Red and Gold club as they were constantly pressurized by their fans and media too after Mohun Bagan roped themselves into the ISL. After a poor last season and their arch rivals winning the I-League, the club management was under constant pressure. So this might bring a fresh air into the club and we hope for a crack of jack of a season in the ISL this year as for the first time two Kolkata Giants will going to feature in the biggest league of the country.
