Kolkata: The 130th edition of prestigious Durand Cup came to an climatic end, as FC Goa edged past Mohammedan Sporting Club to get their hands at the trophy through a solitary extra time goal by FC Goa skipper and Man of the Match Edu Bedia.

The final was highly strung from the first minute itself, with both the teams really moving forward with counter attack. The first chance for the Black Panthers came, three minutes into the game but way before that Mohammedan custodian denied a connection play by Muhammad Nemil and Alexander Romario Jesuraj.

Even with both the teams creating a lot of chances forward, no goalmouth action was converted. Although a breakthrough came in the 35th minute that took the 35000 people by excitement when Milan Singh slotted it in for the Black Panthers but it was disallowed due to a foul committed by the player in the process.

The second half didn’t see much of difference from the first , although FC Goa dominated the numeric but there were no count in the score. The match was sent to extra time.

As the first half of the extra time, looked like approaching a goal less draw, FC Goa talisman Bedia scored an outrageous freekick to give his side the anticipated lead . Although Mohammedan made some good runs later, however FC Goa were crowned the Champions.

While Goa custodian Naveen Kumar bagged the best goalkeeper of the tournament, Bedia was honored with the Golden Ball. Mohammedan’s Marcus was awarded the golden boot.
