Anantpur : Ruturaj Gaikwad led India C defeated Shreyas Iyer led India D by 4 wickets at Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantpur, in their 1st Match of Duleep Trophy. Manav Suthar’s 7/49 in 2nd innings played a vital role in the win.
The Match was marked by low scoring innings. In the 1st Innings, India D Batting 1st were bundled out for 164 runs.
They were 76-8 at one stage, however, Axar Patel’s (86) lone battle brought them somehow to 164. From India C, Vijay Kumar Vyshak’s 3/19 followed by Anshul Kamboj & Himanshu Chauhan’s 2-fers rattled their Batting.
Coming to Bat, India C too only managed to get just 4 runs lead and got bundled for 168.
Despite struggling on 43-4 , veteran Baba Indrajit (73) & youngster Abhishek Porel (34) knocks brought them to the score.
India D’s Harshit Rana’s 4/33 played a key role to keep them in the game.
In 2nd Innings, India D started off well with 166/3. Skipper Shreyas Iyer (54) , Devdutt Padikkal (56) & Ricky Bhui (44) looked in good touch.
The game turned when India C skipper Gaikwad introducing left arm Orthodox spinner Manav Suthar. Manav trapped the whole Batting line up in his spin thread, picking 7 wickets and bundling India D on 236.
Chasing 233 runs, India D spinner Saransh Jain posted threat to India C picking 4 fer.
However, handy knocks from skipper Gaikwad (46) , Aryan Juyal (47), Rajat Patidar (44) & a finishing cameo of Abhishek Porel (35*) & Manav Suthar (19*) helped India C chase down the target without much difficulty at the end.
Manav Suthar was adjourned the Man of The Match for his heroic spell.
India C will next face India B on September 12-15 , 2024.
