Kolkata : One of the oldest Domestic Tournaments in India, Duleep Trophy is set to kick start on September 5 in Andhra Pradesh and Bengaluru.
BCCI had announced the squads on August 14 and, on September 3 , they announced the fixtures.
This season’s captains include Shubman Gill (Team A), Abhimanyu Easwaran (Team B), Ruturaj Gaikwad (Team C), and Shreyas Iyer (Team D). In a recent development, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been released from the Team B squad, with the BCCI yet to announce his replacement.
Ishan Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav and Prasidh Krishna also won’t be available for 1st round of the tournament due to injury issues. Nitish Kumar Reddy is declared fit after clouds of doubts over his participation. Sanju Samson has been announced as replacement of Kishan in Team D.
Additionally, Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik will miss the tournament due to illness, with Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav stepping in as their replacements.
Active Indian players like Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Avesh Khan, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, etc are set to participate in this tournament.
There were speculations about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s participation and Mohammed Shami’s potential return in this tournament, but their names have not yet been announced in the official squads.

In a significant change, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revamped the tournament’s format, moving away from the traditional zonal structure to a new four-team setup.
Teams A, B, C, and D will compete in a round-robin format, with the team accumulating the most points by the end of the tournament being declared the winner. Notably, this season will not feature any knockout stages.
The tournament will be held across three venues: the Rural Development Trust Stadium and ACA ADCA Ground in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The event will conclude on September 22.
The tournament will kick start with Team A taking on Team B on September 5, 9:30 Am. There’ll be 6 matches with each teams facing each other ones.
Apart from 1st Match which is played at Bengaluru, rest 5 matches will be played at Anantpur.
