Kolkata: Chennayin FC announced the signing of former East Bengal custodian Debjit Majumder who is reported to have penned a multi-year contract with the two-time Indian Super League champions.
The 33-year-old Debjit had represented the Red and Gold brigade last season while making 50 saves for them including two clean sheets in 15 games. Debjit had previously played with their arch-rivals Mohun Bagan (before the merger with ATK) for four seasons winning I-League twice and the Federation Cup in 2016 before parting ways.

Debjit also played for current Champions Mumbai City FC and played a significant role in ATK’s title-winning campaign in 2016. “I’m really excited to play for Chennaiyin FC and keen to perform and contribute to bringing its third title. Vishal (Kaith) is a good goalkeeper and he has been doing well for the last two seasons, so it will be healthy competition in the team,” Debjit said after signing for Chennayin FC.
“We both will look to bring good results for the team. I’m also looking forward to working closely with the youngsters in the club and passing on the experience,” he added.
The addition of Debjit would bring Marina Machans a lot of power at the back as they look forward to bettering their last season’s performance.
On the same day, Odisha FC announced the signing of 24-year-old Isaac Vanmalsawma from Jamshedpur FC on a two-year deal with an option of extending for one more year. Isaac had represented India U-19 in 2013 and graduated from AIFF Elite Academy before starting his senior career under former coach Stephen Constantine against Bhutan in 2016.

I want to assure them that neither I nor the team will ever give up and will keep fighting till the final whistle,” Issac stated after signing the contract.
