CSK bowling saw Khaleel Ahmed (3/29) and Noor Ahmad (4/18) wreck MI Batting lineup.
Khaleel started his spell removing Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton in successive overs. Ravi Ashwin too dismissed Will Jacks, as MI were reduced to 36-3.
MI started coming back into the game with 51 runs partnership between Tilak Varma (31) & Surya Kumar Yadav (29).
However, Noor Ahmad spun his web and picked 4 wickets with likes of – Surya Kumar Yadav, Robin Minz, Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir, destroying MI’s middle order completely.
Deepak Chahar (28*) played good cameo at the end as MI finished on 155-9 (20).
CSK chasing 156 runs lost Rahul Tripathi early for 11 runs.
Rachin Ravindra (65*) & Ruturaj Gaikwad (53) played vital knocks including 67 (37) runs partnership solidifying CSK’s run chase.
However, after losing Gaikwad, they started losing wickets at regular intervals with dipping run flow. MI debutant young spinner Vignesh Puthur (3/32) picked 3 wickets of Gaikwad, Shivam Dubey, Deepak Hooda as CSK landed in trouble.
Ravindra Jadeja (17) built another vital 36 (27) runs partnership at the end before getting run out in 19th over.
However, Rachin Ravindra stayed till the end and finished the match smashing 6 over mid wicket in 20th over’s first ball of his countrymen Mitchell Santner and earned first points for CSK in their opening encounter.
Noor Ahmad bagged man of the match for his heroic spell.
