Bruno Fernandes inspires Manchester United to move to 2nd spot in Premier League

Manchester: The talismanic Bruno Fernandes was again instrumental for Manchester United as they beat Newcastle United 3-1 in the Premier League. The Portuguese midfielder along with Marcus Rashford and Daniel were on target for the Red Devils at the Old Trafford stadium on Sunday (February 21). Allan Saint-Maximin netted one for the visitors.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set up his side in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Victor Lindelof being paired with Harry Maguire at the heart of the defence. Nemanja Matić along with Fred formed a double pivot in the midfield. Anthony Martial lead the forward line alongside Daniel James and Rashford with Fernandes playing as a no.10 behind them.

Rashford’s sumptuous solo effort put the hosts ahead in the 30th minute before Saint-Maximin attempted a thumping volley to equalise six minutes later. United, though came back well in the second half seeing much of the ball with Fernandes being the orchestrator.

He assisted James to put United again ahead whose a lo- driven strike beat goalkeeper Karl Darlow. Fernandes completed the comeback converting from the spot to take the lead again after Rashford won a penalty. With 10 games to spare, this win surely boosts United’s hopes for challenging for the title.
