Kolkata : Bengal Senior Women’s team stormed into the quarterfinals of Women’s T20 tournament after a dominant 115-run victory over Nagaland in Surat on Monday.
Bengal finished in 2nd spot in the Group C with 20 points from 6 matches.
Dhara Gujjar (61 off 46), Mita Paul (49 off 48), Tanushree Sarkar (34 not out off 17), Jhumia Khatun (3-2), Monika Mal (2-10), Saika Ishaque (1-1), Sushmita Ganguly (1-11) and Aruna Barman (1-12) were the star performers for Bengal.
Monika, who made her debut today, received her cap from India legend & team mentor Jhulan Goswami.
Batting first, Bengal posted a challenging 157/2 in 20 overs. In reply, Nagaland were bundled out for just 42 in 17.4 overs.
The Probal Dutta-coached side will next take on Madhya Pradesh in the last-eight clash on November 8 in Mumbai.
