Ansu Fati signs a long term contract with FC Barcelona after being promoted to the first team

Barcelona : Ansu Fati has signed a new long term deal with FC Barcelona. He has been promoted to the first team and unveiled to take on the no.22 jersey which was vacated by Arturo Vidal. Fati, is set to play a crucial role in the team with Ronald Koeman at the managerial seat.


Fati, who debuted previous season and what followed was a stunning breakthrough season for the young Spaniard. The new contract includes a €400 million, buyout clause and also keeps the player in the club till 2024.


The Spaniard’s earlier contract was due to expire two years from now, his original buyout clause also increased by a humongous €230m, as he signed the new contract.


Fati became the second youngest player to debut for Barcelona at just 16years and 298 days, when he played against Real Betis previous year.


A week later, he became the youngest goalscorer for the Catalan side as he scored against Osasuna, in a match which ended in a 2-2 draw.


His international accolades added feather to his fairytale as he became the youngest debutant for Spain and also youngest goalscorer.


After his international feat, he looked forward to earn regular minutes for his club. “I will continue working and the coach is the one who decides,” Fati told reporters. “I will train hard, if I have the opportunity I will try to take advantage of it.” He is considered as an asset by the Catalan side.
