Ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, newly appointed Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso announces a 34-man squad for the tournament, which is set to take place in the United States. This squad marks Alonso’s first major move as head coach.

Alonso, who previously managed Bayer Leverkusen, has included a mix of experienced and young players in the squad. Moreover, he has called up several key players who are recovering from injuries—such as Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy, Antonio Rudiger, and Eduardo Camavinga—showing confidence in their fitness for the tournament. The squad also includes recent signings Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the latter will also be officially introduced to the press on Thursday at Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training facility. Alonso has also chosen to promote youth by including 10 players from the club’s B-team, underlining his vision to blend experience with emerging talent. The team is scheduled to fly to the U.S. on Thursday, ahead of their opening match against Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal on June 18 in Miami. This will be followed by two more group stage matches—against Mexico’s Pachuca on June 22 and Austria’s RB Salzburg on June 27. Full Squad:
