Liston Colaco’s late brace helps Hyderabad FC overcome NEUFC challenge

Goa: Hyderabad FC outclassed NorthEast United FC 4-2 at the Tilak Maidan in Vasco on Friday, thanks to a Liston Colaco brace. The other two goals were scored by Aridane Santana and Joel Chianese. For the Highlanders, it was Federico Gallego and Benjamin Lambot who had their names on the scoresheet. The win helped Hyderabad to move to the third spot in the table after 10 games.

The match was between two mid-table sides and any of the team could have entered the top four with a victory. Certainly, Hyderabad with their recent form just out-numbered the opposition.

The match started with a bang as Aridane opening the scoring for Hyderabad in the third minute — a cool and calm tap in from a Chianese pass. Aussie Chianese scored the second in the 36th minute. Gallego reduced the margin from the spot in the 45th minute before NorthEast’s Belgian defender, Lambot scored the equiliser to go into the break at 2-all.

In the second half, Hyderabad continued to dominate despite losing their two-goal advantage. In came Liston which changed the course of the game. The youngster in the 85th minute scored the third for Hyderabad which will go down as one of the goals of the season. He completed his brace in the added-on minutes.

Manolo Marquez would be a happy man after his team’s performance in the last two matches, as Hyderabad has scored eight goals. Certainly, things are going right for the Nizams.
