New Delhi: USA pacer Ali Khan has been named as a replacement for Harry Gurney in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad for the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) which will begin from September 19 in the UAE, according to ESPNCricinfo reports. KKR will play their opener against Mumbai Indians on September 23 in Abu Dhabi.

Gurney pulled out of the IPL last month as he is set to put his injured shoulder under the knife and has also pulled out of the England squad against Australia. Thus Khan becomes the first from the USA to feature in the IPL history.

The right-arm fast bowler will join the IPL after a successful campaign at the recently-concluded Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with the Trinbago Knight Riders. In the CPL season, Khan took eight wickets in eight matches that he played.

Reportedly, Khan was seen in an Instagram story posted by the Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, shot inside a flight, with the caption “Next stop Dubai”.
