When Steyn-gun broke Kane Williamson’s box; refused to apologise

New Delhi: South African paceman Dale Steyn and aggression go hand-in-hand. Regarded as one of the best bowlers, breaking through the ranks, smashing the stumps and scaring the batsmen are is his only aim. Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson is among the few cricketers to watch it in close quarters.

The incident that took place during the 2012 Test series in New Zealand. One of Steyn’s thunderbolt had cracked Williamson’s abdomen guard. The right-arm pacer bowled one around the middle stump before the ball nipped back in. Williamson tried to defend the delivery off the back foot but missed it. Steyn had cracked the right-hander’s abdominal guard while leaving the batsman grimacing in pain. And Steyn aggressively told, “I’m not going to apologize for that.”

Steyn had later signed the abdominal guard for the Williamson, who has kept it as a memento. Both Steyn and Williamson are in the UAE, currently gearing up for the upcoming edition of the IPL.

Steyn will be playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore while Williamson will turn up for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 13th edition of the tournament is scheduled to start from September 19 to November 10.
