Virat Kohli is best in ODIs at the moment, believes Steve Smith

Kolkata: Australian batsman Steve Smith, one of the best top-ranked Test batsmen in the world has rated Virat Kohli as the best ODI batsman currently, in an Instagram session with fans. A fan asked Smith to name the best ODI batsman, and he had no hesitation in taking the name of his great Indian rival Virat Kohli.

Steve is currently in England playing the three-match ODI series which started on Friday. Kohli and Smith will face off in the upcoming IPL season commencing from September 19, and also during India’s tour of Australia later this year.

The Indian captain who has scored 11867 runs at an average of 59.34 is currently the leading scorer in ODIs among active cricketers. He has 43 hundreds to his name and is only seven away from the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s world record for most hundreds in ODIs.

Talking about the T20 event, Smith who will be playing for Rajasthan Royals said India’s KL Rahul and Sanju Samson are the two players to watch out for. He will join the squad for IPL after the ODI series against England which ends on September 16.
