2022 FIFA World Cup: Spain, Germany in the same group; Portugal to face Uruguay

Doha :The final draw for the FIFA World Cup 2022 was held on April 1 in Doha. The final draw will place the 32 participating countries among which only 29 is confirmed as of now. Two intercontinental play-off matches will due to take place in June 2022, also in Europe one amongst Wales, Scotland or Ukraine will solidify their place at the tournament.

The 32 teams have been divided into four pots, based on FIFA’s most recent rankings. According to FIFA’s ranking Brazil climbed to the first spot dethroning Belgium. Brazil is also the country with most appearances in World Cup history. Eight groups from A to H is formed each consisting of four teams each.

Pot 1 contained Qatar, the hosting nation and Brazil, Belgium, the defending World Cup champion France, Argentina, England, Spain and Portugal. Pot 2 contained United States,Mexico, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Uruguay, Switzerland and Croatia. Pot 3 had names like Senegal, Iran, Japan, Morocco, Serbia, Poland, South Korea and Tunisia.

As for Pot 4, the three unknown teams out of the 32 were placed here irrespective of their rankings,along with Cameroon Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, Ghana and Canada.

Group A : Qatar, Ecuador ,Senegal, Netherlands
Group B : England,Iran,USA, European Play off( Wales/Scotland/Ukraine)
Group C : Argentina, Saudi Arabia,Mexico,Poland
Group D : France,Inter Continental Play off 1 (Peru/Australua/UAE) ,Denmark, Tunisia
Group E : Spain,Inter Continental Play off 2(Costa Rica/New Zealand), Germany, Japan
Group F :  Belgium, Canada ,Morocco,Croatia
Group G : Brazil, Serbia,Switzerland, Cameroon
Group H :  Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay,South Korea
