Kolkata : Bengal and Adamas Howrah Warriors allrounder has championed Bengal T20 League for betterment and future growth of Bengal’s white ball Cricket.

He acknowledged the platform where youngsters, who wouldn’t have got such opportunities, are coming up and showcasing talents in front of selectors, scouts who’re coming at Eden Gardens. According to Writtick, there’s no dearth of talents in Bengal Cricket and selection is very tough amongst many talents.

“Many junior Cricketers are coming up who wouldn’t have got proper opportunities or exposure. Bengal T20 League is broadcasted in TV, scouts and selectors are coming, where youths showcase their talents in front of them. You’ll see Bengal Cricketers playing well in white Ball due to Bengal T20 League. There’s much crowd in selection, a player is knocking behind the other one , so it’s good sign for Bengal Cricket”, stated Writtick.

The allrounder mentioned that he gets inspired seeing the likes of Mohammad Shami , Shahbaz Ahmed playing in this league, who’ve also represented India. Shami is in Siliguri, and clinched the only hattrick in this league 2 days ago, while Shahbaz is leading Shrachi Rarh Tigers, with red hot form. Even youths get inspired from their performance and attitude.

Writtick said, ” They’re (Shami, Shahbaz, etc) Indian Players, I’ve got inspired seeing their performance, I try to get better seeing them. This is not only beneficial for me but also Bengal Cricket, many juniors are getting inspired seeing their performance and attitude “.

However, Writtick bashed the ‘Impact Player’ Rule that was started in IPL in 2023 and later in other leagues, stating it as harmful for allrounders. This comes a day after his teammate Abhimanyu Easwaran also bashed it for same cause.

” It (Impact Player rule) is harmful for allrounders , the proper allrounders aren’t getting enough chances, as an extra Bowler or Batter is playing”.

Writtick Chatterjee was picked up by Punjab Kings in IPL 2022 auction on back of strong domestic performances for Bengal. Despite not getting any games, he mentioned that he learnt lot of things there.

“Everything I learnt at Punjab Kings like short selection, Batting mindset, has helped me, I work on that every day, I’ll utilize that knowledge in upcoming games”, mentioned Writtick.

Writtick’s team defending champion Adamas Howrah Warriors have opened their account in Bengal T20 League 2026 defeating Kolkata Royal Tigers. He also stated that there’s no pressure in title defense, they eye winning all games but humid weather is a factor.

“No added pressure as defending champion, we’re playing match by match and focusing on how to win next 4 matches, keep the momentum going. It’s good that we won last year but that is past, we’re focusing on present. As an experienced player I share my knowledge with youths”, said Writtick.

He continued, “A bit problematic is moisture and humid weather, in rainy season wickets are under covers so runs are less. Initial 6 overs which is important in T20, are becoming difficult for Batters”.
