Kolkata: Former India and Bengal wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who began his tenure as Bengal Under-23 head coach, sounded confident on his first training session with the team at the Eden Gardens on Monday.
The U-23 team’s first training session for the season began with pep talk from head coach. “I am not a believer of long meetings. It will be short and discussion to the point. We as a team must focus on our skills, help fellow team members. There shouldn’t be any individual goal. We just need to believe in ourselves and execute what we have done in training session onto the match,” Wriddhiman told the boys.
It was followed by warm-ups, core strengthening exercises and net session. Present alongside Wriddhiman were team’s coaches Utpal Chatterjee and Debabrata Das.
Post the three-hour long session, Wriddhiman praised the Bengal’s talent pool and remained optimistic of his team’s chances in the upcoming BCCI domestic season.
“There are heaps of talent in our boys. We need to select the best squad from the probables who will play for us in the season. The selection will be tough as we have so much talent. These boys have the skills when it comes to batting and bowling and they know what needs to be done. We as coaching staff just need to give them proper guidance, channel them in a proper manner, keep a positive environment to get the desired results,” Wriddhiman signed-off.
Also present for the training were strength & conditioning coach Sabir Ali, video analyst Mukesh Sinha, physiotherapist Dipti Ranjan Parida, masseur Mrinal Kanti Paul.
