New Delhi: Former India batsman Gautam Gambhir believes that Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record of winning three ICC trophies as a skipper — The ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy will always remain unbroken. Dhoni announced his retirement on August 15 through a video post on Instagram.

“One record if you talk about, which is going to stay forever is MS Dhoni’s three ICC trophies. I don’t think so any other captain would ever be able to achieve that! I think, whether it the T20 World Cup, whether it is ICC Champions Trophy or 2011 World Cup,” Gambhir said about his record on Star Sports Cricket.

Gambhir and Dhoni had a unforgettable partnership in the final of 2011 World Cup, where they scored 109 runs, and their partnership led India to win their second World Cup after a drought of 28 years.

“I think that is something which is going to stay forever, and I can bet, that’s going to stay forever! I think 100s will eventually get broken, someone will come and probably score more double 100s than Rohit Sharma, but I don’t think so any Indian captain would be able to achieve three ICC trophies, so MS Dhoni’s going to be there to stay forever!” he said.

However, Dhoni will continue to play for Chennai Super Kings in the 13th edition of IPL which will be held in the UAE from September 19.
