Milan: Jens Petter Hauge’s late equalizer to salvage a point for AC Milan after they drew 1-1 with a 10-man Sampdoria on Saturday (April 3). The Norwegian midfielder scored after the veteran Fabio Quagliarella’s strike put the visitors ahead. Stefano Pioli’s men are now five points behind league leaders Inter Milan face Bologna later on the same day, with their cross town rivals having an extra game in hand.

Sampdoria had the upper hand in first half. Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma kept his side in the game , denying Manolo Gabbiadini and Morten Thorsby.

However the hosts were pushed back after a howler from Theo Hernandez who’s pass across midfield allowed Quagliarella to pounce on before chipping it over Donnarumma for the lead. Claudio Ranieri’s side went down to ten men just after their lead with Adrien Silva being given the marching order after seeing a second yellow card for a clumsy challenge on Samu Castillejo. Ante Rebic threatened the opposing defence coming off the bench for the hosts. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Franck Kessie combined well setting up for Hauge who levelled the scoring late in the game.

Milan pushed for a winner with Hakan Calhanoglu being denied by Sampdoria goalkeeper Emil Audero before before Kessie ghosted into box but unfortunately his effort rattled the woodwork ending the game in despair
