T Natarajan not picked in India test squad for first two Tests against England

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England on Tuesday (January 19). This is the first team selected under the newly-formed selection committee that was headed by the Indian chief selector, Chetan Sharma.

The BCCI has announced the squad for the first two Tests, the first of which will begin from  February 5 at Chennai.

Squad: Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (Vice-captain), KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (Wicket-keeper), Wriddhiman Saha (Wicket-keeper), R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Md. Siraj, Shardul Thakur.

The Committee also picked five net bowlers and five players as standbys.

Net Bowlers: Ankit Rajpoot, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Warrier, Krishnappa Gowtham, Saurabh Kumar.

Standby players: K S Bharat, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shahbaz Nadeem, Rahul Chahar, Priyank Panchal.

England’s tour of India, 2020/21 – Test series:

1st Test – 15 – 9 February (Chennai)
2nd Test – 13 – 17 February (Chennai)
3rd Test (D/N) – 24– 28 February (Ahmedabad)
4th Test – 4 – 8 March (Ahmedabad)

Earlier on Tuesday, India withstood an all-out assault by Australia to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a record-breaking run chase in a stunning three-wicket win in the fourth Test at the Gabba.

The win over Australia is a historic feat as Australia were beaten for the first time in 32 years at the Gabba. The Aussies had been unbeaten in the last 32 games at the Gabba and the Indian cricket team broke this record too. This was India’s third-highest successful run chase in Test cricket.
