India seal historic win against Australia, despite all the harsh criticism

Brisbane: Ajinkya Rahane-led Team India triumphed over Australia  as India registered one of the biggest overseas victory in history to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Tuesday (January 19) at Gabba. Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 89 and also scored the winning boundary to seal the historic win for India. Team India once again showed extreme resilience and fight to make a comeback. The visitors won the fourth and the final test of the series against Australia, with three wickets in hand, clinching the series 2-1.

India had their back against the wall after getting all out for 36 in the series-opener at Adelaide on day 3 of the first Test. After watching the Indian batting collapse, the visitors faced harsh criticism from all around the world including Indian fans, as everyone was shell-shocked.

Criticizing visitors batting efforts, Former Australian captain Michael Clarke said, “Can you imagine this Indian batting line up without Virat Kohli for the next two Test matches? They’re in deep trouble.”

There could be a chance of Kohli not being there. There’s allmost no one to pick them up after a loss like that,” Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting wrote.

“Told ya.. India are going to get hammered in the Test series.. #AUSvsIND”#4-0,” Former England skipper Michael Vaughan said.

” I thought their (India’s) only opportunity to win a Test match was at Adelaide. I don’t think they’ll able to turn in around,” Former Aussie keeper Brad Haddin said.

“I just can’t see how they (India) can bounce back after Australia whitewashed them on the third day (in Adelaide) four-nil to Australia.” Former Australian captain Mark Waugh wrote.

Team India’s frontline pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were racially abused by the crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground on the second and third day of the Series. Later in the series several Indian players losing their spots due to injuries, without their skipper Virat Kohli India seal an incredible and befitting win to seal the series in India’s favour.

After successfully defending their Border-Gavaskar Trophy and continue to remain a strong contender to book a place in the final of the ICC World Test Championship. With the win, India moved from second position to the top of the table in the World Test Championship, having now won two out of their last three Tests (Melbourne and Brisbane).
