Racial slurs hurled at Manchester United forward following their defeat in Europa Cup Final

Manchester : Following the defeat of Manchester United in the UEFA Europa Cup final, which saw Marcus Rashford missing a sitter. The young Red Devil reported facing racial abuse in social media.

Rashford was presented with a chance which could have given United a lead and also helped them secure a victory for his. Unfortunately he missed the opportunity as the match rolled on to extra time and from there to the penalties. United lost the match 10-11 in penalties, after David De Gea shot was saved by Gerónimo Rulli.

Rashford said that he has received 70 abusive messages and reported them to the police. Investigation is also being carried on and Instagram said that they had deleted the messages aimed at the 23 year old forward.

After being racially abused and reportedly receiving several monkey emojis, Rashford took on social media to address his grievances and said, “At least 70 racial slurs on my social accounts counted so far. For those working to make me feel any worse than I already do, good luck trying.”

He even apologised for his team’s defeat and said it wasn’t about the dedication or his ability but in reality he had been facing physical obstacles which he had to overcome and he is still managing to deal with those.
