Australian pacer Mitch Claydon suspended for using hand sanitizer

London: Australian veteran bowler Mitch Claydon has been put up by his Sussex county cricket club supposedly after applying hand sanitizer to the ball, he has been placed under investigation for this incident.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has unfolded an instance against the 37-year-old backing a match against Middlesex earlier on last month in which he took three wickets.

“Mitch Claydon is suspended pending the outcome of an ECB allegation of placing hand sanitiser on the ball in our match against Middlesex. There will be no further comment at this stage,” said Sussex on their website.

Following the COVID-19 disaster, below strict health protocols in cricket, players are prohibited from using saliva to shine the ball.

However, Claydon will not be allowed to play for next Bob Willis Trophy match against Surrey in the 14-man Sussex squad.
