London: Sergio Reguilon is all set to join Tottenham Hotspur, according to sources. The Spanish left-back, who was previously linked to Manchester United is reportedly set to join Spurs after he got a call from coach Jose Mourinho.

Furthermore, it was also reported that Reguilon would join Spurs for five years and his transfer fee is 30m euros (27.5m pounds). Reguilon, who was loaned to Sevilla last season by Real Madrid has won the Europa League under Julen Lopetegui and even qualified for the Champions League. He played 38 games in all competitions.

The young Spaniard is a kind of left-back who isn’t afraid to take on defenders. The arrival of Reguilon hence might help Mourinho’s side with its lop-sided defence but attacking mindset. Meanwhile, Madrid placed two clauses.

One that allowed the La Liga Champions the first right of refusal, which would allow Madrid to match a bid in case Spurs receives a deal from another club. Second is a buy-back clause of between 40-45m euros. Manchester United reportedly didn’t agree with the buy-back clause, which allowed the Spurs deal to go through.

This deal could end up being advantageous in the future for the current La Liga Champions, as for the clauses they have set. It is understood that the deal had been accepted in the last few hours, personal terms agreed, only the signing of the final paperwork is left.
