Dhaka : Sanjida Akhter becomes the first ever Bangladeshi female footballer to attain a verified blue badge on Facebook. Hence she joins the elite list of Bangladeshi athletes, with the likes of Shakib Al Hasan and Jahanara Alam.

The right-wing hailing from Kolsindur, plays for Bashundhara Kings Women and the Bangladesh women’s national football team. She started playing for Kolsindur Govt. Primary School in 2011 at the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup Football Tournament.

Since then she has featured for AFC U-14 Girls’ Regional Championship – South and Central winning Bangladesh U-14 that was held in Nepal in 2015. The 20 year old, also featured for all the matches played in Group C during the matches of 2017 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship qualification.

During her U-17 nationals, she found the back of the net four times from nine appearances. In 2016, she was part of the team which was announced the runner-up in SAFF Women’s Championship. For her club career, she won the Bangladesh Women’s Football League in 2020 with her team Bashundhara Kings Women.

After being verified on Facebook, one of the few people whom Sanjida thanked was Md Rana Sheikh, a sports reporter who helped her with the process of verifying her account on Facebook.
