Barcelona: Will Lionel Messi stay at Barcelona at the end of the season? It’s a hard one to be answered and only the Argentine superstar can put light on it but former Blaugrana striker Samuel Eto’o has hailed a youngster at Barcelona as the rightful heir of Messi.

The former Cameroonian international has named Ansu Fati as his choice of replacing the talismanic no.10 at Camp Nou. Eto’o spent five seasons at the club sharing dressing with the then-teenage Messi who was already making headlines back then at a tender age.

During an interview, Eto’o stated, “I think he is the one for the future. He’s currently doing amazing stuff, so I think the club really needs to groom him and take very good care of him. Let’s hope he’s the one to take over from Messi.”

Fati drew headlines last season after making his debut for the first team of the Catalan club as the second-youngest player before becoming the youngest goalscorer for the club netting against Osasuna in La Liga at just 16 years and 304.

Since then he featured regularly for the first team showing great promise appearing 43 times for the club netting 13 goals while registering five assists although he hasn’t played much this season due to meniscal laceration in November last year.
