Chelsea: Romelu Lukaku exclaims that it is meaningless to compare him with Cristiano Ronaldo, although both of them made a move to their former clubs in England from Italy.

“Don’t ever compare me to Cristiano Ronaldo, never,” Lukaku said at a press conference ahead of Belgium’s World Cup qualifier against Czech Republic on Sunday before making 100th appearance for his side.

Lukaku had netted in 66 times for Inter Milan last season , as they snatched away the Serie A title from Ronaldo’s Juventus. Both Lukaku and Ronaldo have returned to Chelsea and Manchester United this season.

Lukaku had already made his debut against Arsenal even finding the net for the Blues, while Ronaldo is set to make his on September 11 , against New Castle United. The return of the forwards at the same time have spiked up comparison theories, which the 28 year old Belgian claims to be unnecessary.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is, for me, in the top three best players in the history of football,” he continued. “I’m not going to rank him from first to third but he’s in there. “

“What he has achieved in football today for players of my generation is something exceptional.”

“I was lucky enough to play against him in Italy and now that he’s back in the Premier League, it’s all good for English football. “

“As for the rest, comparing statistics and all that, it’s useless.” said Lukaku.
