Paris : HS Prannoy defeated World ranked 70 Vietnamese Le Duc Phat 16-21, 21-11, 21-12 (2-1) to qualify into Round of 16 in Badminton Men’s Singles of Paris Olympics 2024. He will face his countrymen Lakshya Sen who earlier defeated Jonatan Christie to storm into Round of 16.
In 1st Round, to everyone’s surprise, the Vietnamese dominated Prannoy, winning the set 16-21.
However, in later 2 sets, Prannoy didn’t give any chance to Le Duc as he completely dominated him, displaying his class.
Prannoy won the next 2 rounds with 21-11, 21-12 margins & qualified for the Round of 16.
This will be a bitter sweet moment for India as either one of Prannoy Or Lakshya, facing each other in Round of 16 will have a chance to win Olympics medal & not both.
