
Poznan: At the Paracanoe World Cup in Poznan, Poland, para-canoeist Prachi Yadav made history by becoming the first Indian to win a bronze medal in the women’s VL2 200m event.
Prachi finished third in 1:04.71 seconds, finishing behind silver medalist Brianna Hennessy of Canada (1:01.58s) and gold medalist Susan Seipel of Australia (1:01.54s). It is India’s best-ever showing in the competition, which began on May 26 and will conclude on Sunday.
In addition, for the first time in the tournament’s history, Manish Kaurav (KL3 men 200m) and Manjeet Singh (VL2 men 200m) advanced to the finals of their respective events. Jaideep reached the semifinals of the VL3 men’s 200m event but was unable to advance any further.
