Ogbeche’s strike against ATKMB helps Mumbai City FC maintain top spot

Goa : Mumbai City FC wanted a hero against ATK Mohun Bagan, they got it by the name of Bartholomew Ogbeche, as his goal sealed the deal for the Islanders at Fatorda in this mouth-watering top-two clash.

The match was the highlight of the Hero Indian Super League season 7 ,as both the teams were place at the top two spots in the table and Mumbai just came up trumps in this high-profile contest against ATKMB.

Mumbai controlled the match from kick-off and played better football. ATKMB players were finding no space to attack rather they went on defending every other Mumbai threat. This was the story of the first half.

In the second half, ATKMB coach Antionio Lopez Habas made two important substitution by bringing in Pronoy Halder in place of Glen Martins and Prabir Das in place of Manvir Singh. And the game lit up to its tempo. ATKMB started to attack and Edu Garcia came close to take the lead but denied by the post.

In the 69th minute of the match a combination of Hugo Boumous and Ogbeche helped the Islanders to take the crucial lead and it stayed intact till the last whistle.

The Mariners came close to take the lead but a certain Mourtada Fall lead the defence intact and denied every other chance. The Islanders clinched the match and maintained top of the league after the first leg of the 7th edition.
