Dubai: Presenter Mayanti Langer is one of the most popular faces of sports broadcasting in India. However, she was not named in the list of anchors for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Langer has become an essential part of the Indian cricket fraternity and is highly popular among the fans.

Putting all the confusion aside, Langer has finally revealed the reason why she isn’t in the list. Six weeks ago, she and husband Stuart Binny were blessed with their first child and thus the anchor has decided to skip the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league. “So I’m going to love watching the IPL @StarSportsIndia all the best to the team @jatinsapru @suhailchandhok @cricketaakash @SanjanaGanesan @ProfDeano @scottbstyris @BrettLee_58 @Sanjog_G and the full gang!!” she tweeted.

“So quite a few of you have reached out and many are speculating. For the past five years, my family at Star Sports has given me the incredible privilege of fronting their most high profile events. In fact, they supported me when I needed them the most. When I was pregnant with my son. They made several adjustments to ensure that I was comfortable hosting till I was 20 weeks/five months pregnant. I would have continued so had IPL 2020 gone on as scheduled. Stuart and I were blessed by the birth of our baby boy six weeks ago. Life has changed for the better,” she further added.

This year the IPL has been shifted to the UAE due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in India. Earlier, the list of commentators for IPL was announced with plenty of big names coming back on air. Sunil Gavaskar, Harsha Bhogle and Ian Bishop will be on commentary duties while the likes of Brett Lee, Dean Jones, Brian Lara, Graeme Swann and Scott Styris will feature in the Dugout show.

However, there will be one big name missing in this edition of IPL that of Sanjay Manjrekar. Since 2008, he was a part of the IPL commentary panel but was dismissed from the BCCI’s list of commentators earlier this year in March for a taunting comment on Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja during the World Cup.

Apart from the names mentioned above, Mark Nicholas, JP Duminy, Lisa Sthalekar and Anjum Chopra will also be part of the English team. The 13th edition of IPL is all set to begin Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be playing Mumbai Indians (MI) in the opener on Saturday (September 19) in Abu Dhabi.
