Kolkata, June 24: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Wednesday announced the appointment of two Bengal cricket stalwarts, Utpal Chatterjee and Ashoke Dinda, as part of its ambitious Vision 2028 programme, which is set to commence in July 2026.
Former India pacer and Bengal legend Ashoke Dinda has been appointed as the Head of Vision 2028 and will also serve as the programme’s Fast Bowling Coach. Meanwhile, former Bengal spinner Utpal Chatterjee has been entrusted with the role of Spin Bowling Coach.
The Vision 2028 initiative has been designed as a long-term development programme aimed at identifying, nurturing, and enhancing cricketing talent across Bengal. Through this project, CAB aims to create a structured pathway for young cricketers and strengthen the state’s cricketing ecosystem ahead of future domestic and national challenges.

According to CAB, the programme will involve close coordination between coaches and players across multiple age groups and categories. Head coaches of Bengal’s men’s and women’s teams, including the Under-16, Under-19, Under-23, and Senior teams, will be integrated into the Vision 2028 framework. Assistant coaches from various squads will also play a key role in implementing the programme’s objectives.
The inclusion of Dinda and Chatterjee brings significant experience and expertise to the initiative. Dinda, one of Bengal’s most successful fast bowlers, represented India in all formats and enjoyed a distinguished domestic career. Chatterjee, a former India left-arm spinner, remains one of Bengal’s most respected cricketing figures and has extensive coaching experience.
With Vision 2028, CAB hopes to build a stronger talent pipeline and elevate Bengal cricket to new heights by combining experienced mentorship with a comprehensive player development strategy.
