Kolkata: The ever-lasting comparison in the world of football is the obvious one now, “Ronaldo or Messi?”. There isn’t a single current player, former legend, or coach who hasn’t been asked this question during one of their countless interviews.
Although every player has their own choice in this matter while some players refuse to choose between the two of them. If considered logically, a player who has played alongside both the players will be in a better position to make his choice. Carlos Tevez is one such player, who has played with both the talismans.
The Argentine player described Cristiano and Messi as ‘both out of the ordinary’. Tevez played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, at club level for Manchester United between 2007 and 2009. Meanwhile, at the international level, he was Messi’s teammate as they played for Argentina, for more than a 10-year period, 2005 to 2015.
When asked Tevez told the media,” They are two greats. I felt comfortable with them both. I enjoyed both and learned from them. They are both out of the ordinary. With Cristiano, I lived the day to day and with Leo, it was with the national team.”
“They are from another planet. They are still part of football’s elite and that is very difficult. It’s something to admire. You have to tip your hats off to those kinds of players,” Tevez added.
Although, once asked to choose between the greatness of Lionel Messi and the late legend Diego Maradona. Tevez refused to pick anyone. Being an Argentine himself, Tevez refused to give in to the lofty comparisons. “Both,” Tevez said. “They are both Argentine. At times, we fight about it more than the people from outside of the country. The argument has always been made by us. We have to enjoy it.”
