Barcelona: The curtains on the winter transfer window fell on Monday(January 31) night. As usual, the deadline day was frantic and had a lot of activities as all the clubs looked to close in their targeted signings for the upcoming mid of the season 2021-22.

FC Barcelona was no exception as the Barcelona headquarters were busy till the very last, at the dead of the night. The Catalan giants finally roped in the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a free transfer from Arsenal. The Gabon striker took a considerable wage cut to sign for the Catalan side.

As the transfer window came to a close, the situation around Camp Nou livened with some good signings made by the Barcelona board. FC Barcelona has been struggling financially for quite some time now and with their talisman Lionel Messi leaving, they struggled on the field as well.

Although Joan Laporta, Mateu Alemany, and other officials have managed to get some top signings on board, despite limited resources to boost Xavi Hernandez’s squad. The addition of Ferran Torres from Manchester City was a serious positive for Barça.

Torres, a young and talented prospect is a match for Xavi’s Barça as he is accustomed to Barça’s style of play, having played under both Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique. Dani Alves, returned to Camp Nou as he was signed in November last year. Barça then successfully registered the Brazilian defender, who has already played a few games for the team.

Barcelona kept their wage structure in check by offloading Philippe Coutinho to Aston Villa, on a loan move. This freed the club of his massive wage. The club also got rid of Yusuf Demir and Inaki Pena was sent out on loan as well, in hopes of valuable game time.

To strengthen the attack a bit further FC Barcelona signed Adama Traore on the last week of the transfer window. He made his move back to the club from Wolves on a loan deal until the end of the season with an option to buy.

Although all was not merry, for the side as the club could not decide the fate of Ousmane Dembele. Barcelona failed to offload the French international who is another player with a massive wage. The club wanted a loan move or a swap deal was also on papers as per reports, but at last, Dembele will continue and might leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season when his contract ends.
