Vigo: A 96′ minute goal from Iago Aspas forced Barcelona to share the points with Celta Vigo while at the same time bringing out the defensive problems of the team.

Three goals in the second half saw Celta Vigo make a comeback after being 3-0 down in the first half and finally ending at 3-3. Although both the teams showed an equally dominating performance, Barcelona’s defensive woes were exposed to the bones.

Ansu Fati opened the scoring as early as the fifth minute, with Sergio Busquets doubling the lead in the 18th. The third came for Mephis Delay with 11 minutes remaining from the first break. The camp was hit with more disappointment after Ansu Fati who had recently returned from injury, left the ground in tears with a hamstring injury. Adding to it even Nico Gonzalez left the track with discomfort in the knees.

Barcelona’s quality dropped by a huge margin in the second half and Celta Vigo did not wait to take advantage as they upped their game. The first goal came from Aspas at the 52nd minute, with Nolito scoring the second. The third and the final came from Aspas in the injury time right when Barcelona thought they had finally managed to escape with all the full points.

However, the silver lining of the encounter will be for Xavi, who is set to take over the team. The encounter had probably highlighted the places that need to be worked on the team. Barcelona will be hosting Benfica next in the Champions League. It will be a difficult encounter with all the injuries that the camp has been hit with.

On the other hand, Real Madrid claimed the top spot with a 2-1 win against Rayo Vallecano. First-half goals from Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema sealed the win although Falcao pulled one back for the visitors.
