New Delhi: KL Rahul will be the skipper of the yet-to-be-named Lucknow franchise in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), a league source told PTI on Tuesday. “Rahul will captain Lucknow. The team is deciding on the other two draft picks,” an IPL source told PTI.
Rahul is said to be one of the players selected by Lucknow from the draught ahead of the blockbuster auction in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. Marcus Stoinis of Australia and Ravi Bishnoi, an uncapped leg-spinner, are the other two potential candidates.
Rahul was the captain of Punjab Kings for the last two seasons, however, he did not want to continue with the team. Bishnoi also played for Punjab, while Stoinis played for Delhi Capitals.
The Lucknow franchise was purchased for Rs 7,090 crore by the RPSG Group.
Rahul is the Indian ODI team’s stand-in captain in South Africa in absence of injured Rohit Sharma.
