London: Jorginho scored a brace, both from penalties, as Chelsea thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0 in English Premier League on Saturday (October 3). Ben Chilwell, who made his debut for the Blues scored the opening goal as Frank Lampard’s men finally could breathe a sigh of relief since the start of the campaign.

It was Chilwell’s 100th appearance in Premier League. His goal on 50 minutes broke the deadlock after both the teams struggled to score in the first half. The lead was doubled by Kurt Zouma on 66 minutes, an assist from Chilwell. Edouard Mendy replaced Kepa Arrizabalaga under the Chelsea sticks for his maiden Blues jersey.

Crystal Palace only won twice out of eleven visits to Stamford Bridge, where they lost the last five times consecutively. The goal lead was quadrupled when Jorginho scored twice from the spot on 78 and 82 minutes.

It was Chelsea’s third overall win in six games across all competitions this season. Kai Havertz and Callum Hudson-Odoi failed to create many chances in spite of having a lively first half. Even with this win, Chelsea are just one point clear of Crystal Palace, with just seven points from four games.
