Kolkata : Jasprit Bumrah opened up about how 5 times IPL champions Mumbai Indians stood beside Hardik Pandya during his tough phase in IPL 2024.
How controversy started?
Mumbai Indians handed over captaincy to Hardik Pandya from their former 5 times IPL winning captain Rohit Sharma. This sparked rage from fans as they booed Pandya whenever he entered the field. Neither Mumbai nor Pandya performed well in the IPL, finishing at bottom of Points Table.
Mumbai Indians vs World
Bumrah now spoke in an interview on how Mumbai stood beside Pandya, how they were one family even in the tough phase. However, it appeared different to the outside world. There were rumours that Mumbai Indians didn’t support Hardik Pandya in these tough times. Bumrah focused on the point how it became Mumbai Indians vs The World.
“We as a team we cannot leave a man behind. We are there for each other. We are trying to help each other. I have played a lot of cricket with Hardik but it might be a youngster. It is us against the world. You do not want to introduce too much. We were together and trying to help him if he needed it,” Jasprit Bumrah.
Mumbai Indian’s support to Hardik Pandya – The One Family
Bumrah revealed further that how the inner circle, or the Mumbai Indians as a family supported Pandya.
“But then your inner circle helps. We as a team do not encourage that. We as a team were with him. We were talking to him. His family will always be there. Certain things are beyond your control. That narrative also changed when we won the World Cup,” said Bumrah.
